1. What is a Tin Treasure ?
Every Tin Treasure starts out as a flat sheet of metal (Tin Plate) that is printed and than cut into separate pieces. Each piece is then formed into itís final shape through numerous tooling stations. The pieces are than hand assembled to create the final toy.
A labour intensive process, Tin Toy production was quickly abandoned when plastic moulding was developed. Most traditional toy makers in India, like elsewhere in the world, moved away from Tin Toy production. Today people from all over the world seek Tin Toys, either as serious collectors or merely to cherish the rich memories of their childhood. Anyone intending to start or enlarge a collection should not delay!
Sadly the future of none of these beautiful toys with a wonderful history is certain.
